China offers aid to Odette victims

By MICHAELA DEL CALLAR

China's embassy on Friday offered assistance to those affected by Typhoon Odette that left a trail of destruction and massive flooding in parts of central and southern Philippines.

"Saddened to learn that Typhoon Odette has devastated and caused severe damages to families in the Visayas and Mindanao regions," the embassy said in a statement.

"We stand in solidarity with all affected Filipino families in facing this challenge and are willing to offer assistance to help them tide over the difficulties in the spirit of Bayanihan."

At least one person was reported dead while two others were injured, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said.
