The latest tally shows that 6.4 million individuals were inoculated against COVID-19 during the second wave of the vaccination days, a number that is expected to further increase, according to the National Vaccination Operations Center.

At the Laging Handa briefing on Thursday, Dr. Kezia Rosario of NVOC said around 992,000 doses were administered on Wednesday, the last day of the drive.

This brought the total to 6,404,622 doses administered from December 15 to December 22, not yet meeting the 7 million goal of the government for the vaccination days.

“Pero nakikita nating trend kasi nga because of the typhoon, medyo mahina din ‘yung pagsubmit dahil may connectivity issues yung mga local governments natin,” Rosario said.

(But we see the trend that because of the typhoon, our local governments are having difficulty submitting their reports due to connectivity issues.)

“So nakikita natin na as several days pass by na nag sa-submit naman ng datos ‘yung mga LGUs natin ng mga late na reports nila. Most likely we still expect that some will submit tomorrow or even the next day after that,” she added.

The Philippine government is seeking to fully vaccinate 54 million individuals against COVID-19 before the end of the year.

According to the National COVID-19 vaccination dashboard, 46.3 million individuals have so far been fully vaccinated while 56.7 million have received at least one dose. — RSJ, GMA News
