NDRRMC: Reported death toll due to Odette now at 389

The reported fatalities from Typhoon Odette has increased to 389 from the 378 reported previously, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Monday.

In its latest report, the NDRRMC said 64 people were still missing while 1,146 others were injured.

Of these numbers, the NDRRMC has so far validated 52 dead, 15 missing and 73 injured.

A total of 1,074, 169 families or 4,204,601 people were affected by the typhoon in MIMAROPA, CARAGA, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and Regions, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12.

It also said a total of 506,404 houses were damaged — 339,327 partially and 167,077 totally damaged — due to Odette. The estimated cost of damaged houses was at 28,163,718.

Odette also damaged 276 infrastructures — including government facilities, health facilities, roads, and schools — which amounted to ? 16,711,209,182.11.

On the other hand, the typhoon also damaged 79,282,037 hectares of crops, 1,174,296, livestock and poultry and 2,949.46 agricultural infrastructure/equipment. Estimated cost of damage to agriculture was at P5,315,842,606.17, the NDRRMC said.

A total of 334 cities/municipalities in MIMAROPA, Region 6, Region 8, CARAGA had declarations of state of calamity, it added.

Meanwhile, the estimated cost of assistance provided to affected residents was at P118,414,662.66 as of Monday. These include those that came from government agencies, local government units, non-government organizations and private sector.  —KBK, GMA News
