NCR outbreak still 'severe,' average daily attack rate now at 111.80% —OCTA

The National Capital Region (NCR) continues to be in "severe outbreak" as its COVID-19 average daily attack rate (ADAR) further climbs to 111.80, OCTA Research said Thursday.

ADAR pertains to the incidence showing the average number of new cases in a period per 100,000 people.

NCR's ADAR as of January 11 was 89.42%.

In a tweet, OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David noted that 56% or 18,140 of the 32,246 new COVID-19 cases recorded by the Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday were from NCR.

Meanwhile, the cities of Baguio, Angeles and Santiago are on a "mature stage" of outbreak, recording ADARs of 39.48, 26.65 and 25.23, respectively, the independent research group said on Twitter.

On the other hand,  the cities of Naga (24.04), Dagupan (19.00), Lucena (18.95), Olongapo (16.49), Iloilo (15.31) and Lapu Lapu (15.23) are on "accelerating stage" while Cagayan de Oro (5.52), Cebu (8.36) and Davao (4.75) are on "early stage" of outbreak.

The NCR and all these cities have been placed under Alert Level 3 until January 15, 2022.

Under Alert Level 3, several establishments will be allowed to operate at 30% indoor venue capacity but exclusively for fully vaccinated people and 50% outdoor venue capacity as long as employees are fully vaccinated.

In-person classes, contact sports, funfairs/perya, and casinos are among the activities and establishments that are prohibited under Alert Level 3.

Work at government offices is limited to 60% of their onsite capacity.

The Philippines' total COVID-19 caseload has breached the 3 million mark, with deaths at  52,654 and  2,797,816 recoveries. —KBK, GMA News
