Due to backlogs, only 7 out of 10 people can obtain COVID-19 vax certificate - DILG

Only seven out of 10 people who apply for a COVID-19 vaccination certificate through the VaxCertPH portal are able to acquire the certification due to backlogs in data uploading, an official of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said.

DILG spokesperson Jonathan Malaya told The Mangahas Interviews that some local government units (LGUs) are focusing more on the vaccination program than on updating data in the online portal.

“Dahil po dito, sa 10 taong nag-apply, pito lang ang may success. Yung tatlo, no record found," he said.

(Due to this, only seven out of 10 people are successful in obtaining a vaccination certificate. For the remaining three, no record was found.)

Malaya advised those who were unable to obtain a digital copy of the vaccination certificate to present their vaccination cards when the authorities inspected them.

Several LGUs have already passed ordinances imposing restrictions on unvaccinated people.

Authorities check for the vaccination cards of people who are outdoors. Some services, such as public transport, also require vaccination cards.

Last November, Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año said that the government's immunization record still had 10 million gaps in entries.

Malacañang, meanwhile, has urged LGUs to hasten the encoding of vaccine recipients’ information in the verification database system. — VBL, GMA News
