SC issues TRO on Comelec's cancelation of Senate bet's COC

The Supreme Court has issued a temporary restraining order against the Commission on Elections (Comelec)'s cancelation of a senatorial aspirant's certificate of candidacy.

The high tribunal granted the petition of Norman Codero Marquez, who was declared a nuisance candidate by the Comelec.

According to the TRO, the SC found the petition to be sufficient in form and substance.

Thus, the Comelec is required to comment on the petition within a non-extendible period of 10 days from notice.

“Respondent Comelec is hereby required to comment on the petition within a non-extendible period of 10 days from notice hereof. Meanwhile, a temporary restraining order is issued, effective immediately and continuing until further orders this court,” it said. —NB, GMA News
