Duterte has a right to name bets he deems unfit to be president –Moreno

It is President Rodrigo Duterte's right to name the presidential bets who are supposedly unfit for the post, presidential aspirant Manila Mayor Isko Moreno said on Tuesday.

"Karapatan ni Pangulo na magsiwalat ng kabalastugan. I do believe anybody, they can explain themselves whoever they are at the end of the day," Moreno said during a press conference.

(That's the right of the President to disclose those who are unscrupulous.)

"Botante pa rin si President Duterte (President Duterte is still a voter), boboto pa rin si President on top of his obligation being the president, he is still a citizen of the country. He is entitled to his observation and opinion," he added.

Duterte earlier said he would name the Eleksyon 2022 presidential bets who were the "most corrupt" and who he thought lacked the know-how to become the country's next leader.

Duterte claimed that one of the aspirants was a drunkard, while the other one was inexperienced for the post.

The Chief Executive said he would leave it to the citizens to decide if they would believe him or not.

Meanwhile, in the same presser, Moreno reiterated that he was open to disclosing his Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth to the public.

"Aba oo naman, diba requirement 'yun, sinasubmit naman 'yun... sa amin nasa gobyerno eh," Moreno said. "Wala naman tayong tinatago..."

(Of course, that's a requirement. We are not hiding anything.)

This came after presidential aspirant Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. said there was no reason to release his SALN to the public, especially if this would only be used to attack government officials.

Under Republic Act 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees, public officials and employees “have an obligation to accomplish and submit declarations under oath of, and the public has the right to know, their assets, liabilities, net worth and financial and business interests including those of their spouses and of unmarried children under 18 years of age living in their households.”
