Marcos Jr: I've seen corruption, I understand how to stop it

Presidential aspirant former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday vowed to solve the problem of corruption in government, saying he had seen how graft had been committed when he was a public official.

In a panel interview put together by dzRH, Marcos said he would strengthen the system of checks and balances to stamp out irregularities.

Asked how he would deal with Cabinet members who would be involved in corruption, Marcos said he would let the law run its course.

He said he was willing to give government positions to his own family members if they are best in the particular field.

“The criteria that we should follow is kung sino pinakamagaling na handang tumulong at handang magtrabaho, ‘yan ang ating ilalagay [who is the best and willing to help and work, then we will appoint them],” Marcos said.

Asked if he would appoint his wife Liza Araneta Marcos to the Cabinet, Marcos said he would if she is the best for the particular field.

[If she understands that sector well, then I will. It's like I said, as long as we choose the best. I won’t do it because she is my wife, I will do it because she has the ability.] —NB, GMA News
