COVID-19 average daily attack rate (ADAR) in Batangas, Quezon, and Rizal provinces is now "moderate," independent monitoring group OCTA Research said Thursday, citing indicators.

In a tweet, OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David showed that ADAR for Batangas is at 9.56, Rizal at 9.55, and Quezon at 5.30.

ADAR refers to the incidence showing the average number of new cases in a period per 100,000 people.

Meanwhile, the National Capital Region and Region 4A remained at "moderate risk" classification for COVID-19.

“NCR, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Quezon, and Rizal at moderate risk with negative one week growth rates in new COVID-19 cases,” David said.

Both Cavite and Laguna have a growth rate of -65%, followed by Rizal with -62%. Quezon has -55% growth rate, while Batangas has -51%. Meanwhile, NCR recorded a -54% growth rate.

On Monday, David said that the actual COVID-19 cases in the NCR may be 1.8 times higher

than the reported numbers by health authorities.

According to OCTA, NCR and Calabarzon showed a “very low” reproduction rate and “low” healthcare utilization rate.

However, the COVID-19 positivity rate is “very high” in Laguna with 26% and Batangas with 23%.

David urged the public to continue observing minimum public health standards.

“As trends continue to improve in NCR and Calabarzon, the public is advised to continue to observe health protocols,” he said.

The Philippines reported 7,661 additional COVID-19 infections on Wednesday, increasing the total caseload to 3,577,298. —KBK, GMA News
