52 more PNP personnel contract COVID-19, total now at 48,491


The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday reported 52 new COVID-19 cases among its ranks, which brought the total infections in the police organization to 48,491.

Based on the PNP data, a total of 47,417 cases have already recovered from the disease while 94 are still active cases.

Meanwhile, the death toll due to COVID-19 among PNP personnel remained at 127.

Regarding vaccination, 218,964 (97.23%) of PNP personnel are already fully vaccinated against COVID-19; 5,359 (2.38%) are still awaiting their second dose; and 93,618 (42.75%) have received booster shots.

According to the PNP, 879 (0.39%) personnel have yet to be vaccinated.

On Thursday, the Department of Health reported 8,702 new COVID-19 cases nationwide, bringing the country's total infections to 3,585,461. Of this number, 153,335 are active cases.

With 71 new fatalities, the death toll in the country due to COVID-19 has increased to 54,168. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
