By ANNA FELICIA BAJO,GMA News

Presidential aspirant Manila Mayor Isko Moreno said Friday it is not impossible to fix the government's fiscal problems.

During the KBP Presidential Candidates Forum, Moreno gave a glimpse of what he did in Manila to address fiscal issues even with the threat of COVID-19 pandemic.

Moreno stressed that effective governance is needed to recover from the adverse effects of the health crisis. He also said the country's debts should be paid.

"Noong pumasok ako sa Maynila, walang kaperahan literally, zero... through good governance, through effective governance nakaahon kami tapos may pandemya, lahat ng ipinangako namin na parang imposible sa mga taga-Maynila, nangyari... 'yung sampung taon na pangako, nangyari sa dalawang taon, nasa loob pa ng pandemya. So, hindi siya imposible. Ang pangungutang kailangan babayaran, importanteng nagbabayad tayo ng utang," Moreno said.

(When I was elected mayor of Manila, we literally have no money, zero...through good governance, through effective governance we were able to improve our situation despite the pandemic. We were able to fulfill our promises to the people of Manila, even those which seemed impossible. We were able to that in two years amid the pandemic, so nothing is impossible. We should also pay our debts, it is important to pay our debts.)

He also said the public should be encouraged to pursue their dreams and be more hopeful in their lives.

"We must continue to pursue... kailangan nating hikayatin ang tao, ang ating mga kababayan na patuloy na mangarap at magkaroon ng pag-asa na itong mga pangarap na ito ay mangyayari sa isang masinop at episyenteng pamamahala na siya rin namang ginawa namin sa Maynila," he added.
