PNP records 53 new COVID-19 cases; total now 48,541

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Saturday said 53 new COVID-19 cases were recorded among its personnel, driving up the total tally of coronavirus infections to 48,541.

Of this number, 771 are active cases, data from the PNP Health Service showed.

Meanwhile, 229 cases recovered, thus total recoveries now number 47,643.

The death toll on the other hand remained at 127.

The Philippines on Friday recorded 8,564 new COVID-19 infections bringing the nationwide caseload to 3,594,002.

The Department of Health (DOH) said 151,389 of these are active cases.

Total recoveries climbed to 3,388,399 with 10,474 new individuals defeating the viral disease.

The DOH reported 46 new fatalities, pushing the death tally to 54,214. —KG, GMA News
