Sara Duterte: No discussion made regarding Bongbong’s DQ charges

Vice presidential aspirant Sara Duterte on Sunday said there has been "no discussion" between her and presidential bet Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. regarding the disqualification charges against the late dictator's son.

In a statement, Duterte said talks about her "possibly replacing" Marcos was "exceptionally unpleasant" as neither has yet won.

"It is putting the cart before the horse," she said.

Duterte said she is not entertaining the thoughts of a possible replacement.

"[I] also do not look forward to a scenario of a disqualified BBM—before or after the elections," she added.

Further, Duterte maintained that the disqualification charges against Marcos "have no basis at all."

"I maintain that the disqualification cases filed against BBM have no basis at all — orchestrated by anti-Marcos forces desperate to regain control of our country, never mind if they sow divisiveness among our people, never mind if they undermine our freedom, never mind if they make a mockery of our laws," she said.

The Commission on Election's First Division has yet to release its decision on the consolidated petitions for Marcos' disqualification from the presidential race.

Retired Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon earlier claimed that a senator might be behind the delay in the release of the decision on Marcos’ disqualification case. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
