Lacson to fellow Caviteños: Hindi ko kayo ipapahiya

By HANA BORDEY,GMA News

IMUS—Presidential candidate and Senator Panfilo Lacson on Tuesday told his province mates in Cavite that he would not bring them shame if he'd be elected president.

“Sa aking mga kabayan ito lang masasabi ko sa inyo, huling mensahe na lang. Ako po humaharap sa inyo bilang isang kababayan, lehitimong taga-Imus, lehitimong taga-Cavite," Lacson said during their proclamation rally at Imus Grandstand in Cavite.

"Kapag ako pinagpala na maglingkod, hinding hindi ko kayo ipapahiya. Hinding hindi ko kayo bibiguin," he added.

(To my fellow countrymen, I face you tonight as your fellow Caviteño, a legitimate resident of Imus, of Cavite, I will not let you down.)

The presidential hopeful urged the public to think about the future generation while choosing the country’s next set of leaders in the upcoming May 9, 2022 elections.

“Isipin natin ang kinabukasan ng ating mga anak, isipin natin ang kinabukasan ng susunod  na henerasyon. Huwag na natin isipin ang sarili natin,” he said.

[Let us think about the future of our children and the next generation. We should no longer think of ourselves.]

“Nagtiis na tayo, kaya pa natin pagtiisan. Alalahanin natin ang ating mga anak, ang magiging anak ng ating mga anak, ang susunod na henerasyon. Ito ba ang gusto natin ipamana sa susunod na henerasyon?” he asked.

[We’ve already endured and I know we can still endure this situation. We should ask ourselves, is this the kind of government that we want for our children?]

The presidential candidate reiterated that the country’s biggest problem is the government and the solution for it is good governance.

Lacson again reminded the public to shun thieves in the upcoming polls by citing the issue of a president's “gold-plated arinola” in the 1950s.

“Ang P5,000 gold-plated orinola ang laking issue. Over time parang natanggap na natin tanggap na natin na ninanakawan tayo binoboto pa natin," Lacson said.

"'Di ba dapat magising tayo sa katotohanan tayo rin ang kumukuha ng pamukpok sa ulo natin?” he added.

[The P5,000 gold-plated arinola was a big issue back then. Over time, it appeared like we already accepted that we are being robbed by the people whom we elected. Shouldn’t we face the truth that we are choosing the people who cause our suffering?]

“Magising na po tayo sa katotohanan. Isang araw lang tayo magiging hari. Isang araw lang tayong mamimili ng mamumuno sa atin,” he went on.

[We should wake up because we can only be kings for one day. We can only choose our leaders in one day.]

Cavite, a vote-rich province, is considered Lacson’s bailiwick as the presidential aspirant was born and raised in Imus.

The tandem’s campaign slogan is “Aayusin ang Gobyerno, Aayusin ang Buhay ng Bawat Pilipino” (Fix the Government, Fix the Lives of Every Filipino) and “Uubusin ang Magnanakaw” (Get Rid of the Thieves). —NB, GMA News
