Teachers get added expenses as they hold classes at home amid COVID-19 pandemic

Some teachers have lamented having to spend more for their classes amid work from home setup in teaching due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a report on "Stand for Truth" on Monday, Kris Navales called on the government to review their salaries anew and base it on the cost of living in the country.

"Sinasabi nila na teacher, hindi naman namamasahe pero 'yong mga bill namin ng kuryente at tubig ay talagang tumaas dahil 'yong trabaho namin, dinala namin sa aming mga bahay," Navales said.

"Nagkaroon ng added expenses 'yong pandemiya para sa aming mga teachers. Kumbaga, draining 'yon," he added.

Education Secretary Leonor Briones, for her part, said teachers had not been neglected.

"It is a law in economics that whatever your income is, it's never enough for your needs," she said.
