Comelec, Vote Pilipinas launch campaign to increase voter turnout in Eleksyon 2022

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) and Vote Pilipinas on Wednesday officially kicked off a campaign for voter education and to encourage the public to vote smartly in the May 9 national and local elections.

During the signing of the memorandum of agreement between Comelec and Vote Pilipinas, the official voter information campaign partner of the poll body, Vote Pilipinas founder Ces Rondario saidthe goal of #BumotoKa campaign is to increase the voter turnout by 10%.

They will thus conduct a series of webinars and caravans nationwide from February to April to reach as many Filipino voters as possible.

Vote Pilipinas will also launch a candidate profile dashboard on February 28 which seeks to present factual and up-to-date information about the candidates running for president, vice president, senator, and party-list representation.

“Let me impart this message to all our registered voters: Walang pong saysay ang pagparehistro kung hindi po tayo boboto. Bumoto tayo sa May 9. Madali lang gawin ito, mas pinadali ng Comelec at ng Vote Pilipinas,” acting Comelec chairperson Socorro Inting.

(There is no point in registering if we do not vote. Let's vote on May 9. It's easy to do, it has been made easier by the Comelec and Vote Pilipinas.)

Vote Pilipinas initially aimed at mobilizing Filipinos to register and vote for the upcoming elections. After the registration period, it shifted its campaign to get the public vote on election day.

The Comelec earlier said it is expecting around 67.5 million voters for Eleksyon 2022.

Apart from that, Comelec noted there are also around 1.8 million overseas Filipinos who registered to vote in the upcoming polls.—AOL, GMA News
