Isko to invest in agriculture schools, research institutions if he gets elected as president

To ensure food security in the country, presidential aspirant and Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno has vowed that he will invest in academic and research institutions on agriculture should he be elected.

“I hope that someday, somehow may awa ang Diyos, kung palarin tayo, we will continue to invest in the number one threat to national security, which is food security,” Moreno said in an ambush interview in Los Baños, Laguna on Wednesday.

He said teachers can expect that his administration will help them master their skills.

“Mamumuhunan tayo lalo na dito, magagaling talaga ang mga teacher dito pagdating sa pagkain o agrikultura. So, we will support them someday and we will invest in our teachers,” he said.

Further, Moreno said farmers are having a hard time because the market is “flooded with imported products.”

“Paano na yung mga magsasaka? O baka lang namamali tayo ng direksyon na puhunanan yung ating mga guro sa agrikultura, institusyon sa agrikultura at higit sa lahat, yung mga magsasaka,” he said.

(What about the farmers? Maybe we are going in the wrong direction. We should invest in teachers of agriculture, agriculture institutions, and most of all farmers.)
