No increase in COVID-19 infections in first week of Alert Level 1 —DOH

There is no increase in COVID-19 infections since the National Capital Region (NCR) and over 30 other areas shifted to Alert Level 1, according to the Department of Health (DOH).

“At present, we have not seen any increase in COVID-19 cases since we have implemented Alert Level 1 in several areas in the country,” Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said in a Viber message Tuesday.

Vergeire, however, assured the public that the national government is strictly monitoring the mobility of people to ensure that they follow minimum health protocols.

“Since the implementation of Alert Level 1, an increase in the mobility of people has been expected given that employers have implemented 100% workforce capacity, and establishments can now operate in their full capacities as well,” Vergeire said.

“The government strictly monitors the mobility of the public with incessant reminders on adherence to minimum public health standards as well as the national vaccination drive for those eligible to get inoculated,” she added.

The NCR and 38 more areas in the country will be under Alert Level 1 — the lowest under the government's alert level system — from March 1 to 15, 2022.

Under Alert Level 1, intrazonal and interzonal travel shall be allowed without regard to age and comorbidities.

All establishments, persons, or activities, are allowed to operate, work, or be undertaken at full on-site or venue/seating capacity provided it is consistent with minimum public health standards. —Richa Noriega/KBK, GMA News
