"'Yan ba 'yung sa Marvel, from magnanakaw to hero?"

This was the question raised by presidential candidate and Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko" Moreno when asked about his and Willie Ong's inspiration for running in the May elections after the camp of another candidate said they were inspired by Ant-Man.

“Ant-man, 'yan ba 'yung sa Marvel? Ang storya niyan, from magnanakaw to hero? Hindi 'yun ba 'yun? Kasi parang napanood ko 'yan nung araw. Good luck, wala akong masabi e!” Moreno said in an ambush interview in Nueva Ecija.

(Ant-Man, this is the Marvel movie? The story of this is from thief to hero? That's it, right? I think I saw it before. Good luck, I don't know what to say!)

In an interview with Boy Abunda, the wife of presidential candidate and former senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. revealed that he was initially unsure about running.

"You know, six months ago, he wasn't yet sure what to do. We had no party," Liza Araneta-Marcos said.

"And then one day, we were watching Ant-Man in the room and then he looked - we love Marvel movies - and then he looked at me and he goes, 'Okay, we're gonna do this, he told me," she added.

When she sought clarification from her husband, he supposedly said "run for the presidency."

Meanwhile, answering the initial question, Moreno said their tandem seeks to give their service to the people.

"Kami ni Doc Willie nagdesisyon kasi gusto namin ialay 'yung serbisyo namin. Gusto namin ialay 'yung experience namin. Gusto namin ialay 'yung mga pangarap namin para sa tao," he said.
