20,811 individuals pass January 2022 licensure exam for teachers

Nearly 21,000 individuals passed the January licensure examination for teachers, according to the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) on Friday.

The PRC said that 20,811 people made the cut, with passing rates of 55.66% for elementary education (8,737 out of 15,696 examinees) and 53.77% for secondary education (12,074 out of 22,454 examinees).

Jenechielle Lopoy of Saint Michael’s College of Laguna topped the examination for teachers in the elementary level with a rating of 93.80%, while Lorelei Aunario of the University of the Philippines-Diliman took second place with a rating of 92.60%.

Jessica Angelee Baquiran of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela, Thomas Jefferson Fernando of Pangasinan State University-Asingan, Jenny Grace Moreno of Partido State University-Goa, and Jonald Traquiña of Southern Luzon State University-Polillo shared the third spot with a rating of 92.20%.

For the secondary level, Lanvin Sean De Los Santos, a graduate of National Teacher’s College, grabbed the first spot with a rating of 92.80%.

Aiby Abala of the University of Mindanao-Davao City, Vince William Cabotaje of the University of Caloocan City, and Diane David of Colegio de San Gabriel Arcangel shared the second place with a rating of 92.60%.

Jhane Eyre Marie Olmedo, a graduate of Leyte Normal University, ranked third with a rating of 92.40%.

The PRC said of the 8,737 elementary teacher passers, 2,678 are first timers and 6,059 are repeaters.

For the secondary teacher passers, 4,652 are first timers and 7,422 are repeaters.

The licensure exam was conducted on January 30 in 29 testing centers across the country.
