Bongbong not worried about Duterte preferring lawyer as next president

Presidential aspirant Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. is not worried about President Rodrigo Duterte's preference for a lawyer to be the country's next president.

"No. That's what he thinks. Because he is a lawyer and I'm sure he found the fact that he was a lawyer, that he found that his legal training to be of use, and that's why he's saying that," Marcos said at the Kapihan sa Manila Bay forum when asked if he is worried about Duterte's remark.

"But it's not necessarily the case. Marami pang ibang sinabi si Pangulo. Alam mo naman si PRRD talagang [The President has said a lot of things, you know the President], let’s just say he's a very seasoned politician," he added.

In an interview with Pastor Apollo Quiboloy over the weekend, Duterte  said the next Philippine president should be compassionate and preferably a lawyer

Of the 10 candidates vying for the presidency in the 2022 elections, only two -- Vice President Leni Robredo and Joey Montemayor -- are lawyers.

Marcos is the running mate of Duterte's daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.

The President has not made any official endorsement yet for presidency in the coming elections.

The Marcos camp has expressed hope that Duterte would endorse the BBM-Sara UniTeam. —KBK, GMA News
