Ka Leody to prioritize agri sector to ensure food security

Should he win in Eleksyon 2022, presidential aspirant Leody de Guzman said agriculture will be prioritized to ensure food security in the country.

At the PiliPinas Debates 2022 on Saturday, presidential candidates were asked what sector they will prioritize for the economy to recover. The labor leader said he wants to have an agriculture road map.

He also said he wants to ensure sufficient food for all Filipinos as a lot of citizens, including children, are suffering from hunger.

"Ang pokus ng unang mga taon ay magsisimula sa pagbuhay ng ating agriculture para lumikha ng maraming pagkain sapat na pagkain para sa hapag-kainan ng mga mamamayan dahil sa maraming mga kabataan tayo ngayon na malnourished, maraming nagugutom, ito ang ating i-secure," De Guzman said.

(On our first year, we will focus on revitalizing agriculture to provide enough food on the table for the public because many young people now are malnourished, many are hungry so we need to address that.)

He also wants to repeal the Rice Tariffication Law and he does not want to resort in importation for food sources.

"Kailangan nating paunlarin ito at 'yung sakahan natin, itigil natin ang Rice Tariffication Law, isuspinde natin 'yan o irepeal ang Rice Tariffication Law at magkaroon ng road map sa pagpapaunlad ng agrikultura para magkaroon ng maraming pagkain," he said.

(We need to develop our food sources and our farms, we should stop Rice Tariffication Law, suspend or repeal it, and we should have a road map for the development of our agriculture sector.)

De Guzman also said he would focus on health and education sectors.—AOL, GMA News
