Abella: We need a pro-poor government

Presidential candidate and former Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Ernesto Abella said the country needs a government that will be by the side of the poor.

On Saturday's PiliPinas Debates 2022, Abella shared that in the campaign he was often asked about his plans for the farmers.

“Sa aking pag-iikot, may isang pabalik-balik na tanong sakaling maluklok ako. Ano pong pwede niyong gawin sa mga magsasaka, ano po ang pwede ninyong gawin para sa amin ano po yung hinaharap namin?” the former spokesperson of President Rodrigo Duterte said.

“Lagi pong bumabalik na ang kanilang kahirapan ay hindi po dahil sa swerte kung hindi dahilan sa mga polisya na kung saan ang kanilang kahirapan ay nagiging profit para sa ibang tao. For example, when they lose their farmlands, somebody else gains, somebody makes let's say a subdivision out of it,” he explained.

He said that the government should listen to the people and address their concerns.

“Nakita ko po na kailangan pakinggan ang mga tao at isali sila sa pamamahala at doon makikita natin ang pwedeng pagbabago ng bayan kasama po lahat hindi lang pabor sa iilan, hindi lang po pabor sa mayayaman kung hindi pabor pos a lahat lalo na ang mahihirap,” he added.
