312 new COVID-19 infections logged; active cases down to 40K

The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday registered 312 new COVID-19 infections, raising the nationwide tally to 3,677,924.

Based on the DOH data posted on its website, a total of 40,412 active cases were logged.

Among the top regions with cases in the past two weeks were the National Capital Region with 1,739, followed by Region 4A with 683 and Region 6 with 542.

The DOH said recoveries climbed to 3,578,387 while new fatalities pushed the death toll to 59,125.

Records also showed 24.64% of intensive care unit (ICU) beds for COVID-19 patients nationwide were occupied.

Meanwhile, 22.04% of isolation beds in the country were utilized, while 13.66% of ward beds were in use. — VBL, GMA News
