Comelec to dispatch VCMs, ballot boxes nationwide starting April 2

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will transport the vote counting machines and other automated election system (AES) supplies to different parts of the country starting Saturday midnight, poll spokesperson James Jimenez said Friday.

In a video posted by Super Radyo dzBB's Jhomer Apresto onTwitter, Jimenez told reporters the AES supplies like VCMs and ballot boxes will be dispatched to transportation warehouses which are identified as transit points.

“Loading started today, loading of the trucks that will be delivering the AES equipment and supplies to various locations nationwide,” he said.

“So we're starting the loading now. We expect it to be completed by around midnight tonight and then we will dispatch these trucks,” he added.

The delivery to transportation warehouses will continue in the first two weeks of April, he added.

Comelec chairperson Saidamen Pangarungan invited political parties, stakeholders, and media to witness the sealing of the trucks that will deliver the AES supplies, according to Jimenez.

From the transportation warehouses, the AES supplies will be delivered to the last mile or the voting precincts “at the proper time,” he said.—Joviland Rita/AOL, GMA News
