Philippines' daily COVID-19 cases this year hit new low; active tally at 26k

The Philippines set a new low for daily COVID-19 cases this year with 205 new infections reported on Tuesday, Department of Health data showed. 

The previous lowest daily COVID-19 tally was 225, which was recorded on April 5.

Active cases stood at 26,256 while the nationwide caseload increased to 3,681,851.

The DOH reported that the number of recoveries climbed to 3,595,817, while the death toll rose to 59,778.

The top regions with cases in the past two weeks were the National Capital Region with 1,337, followed by Region 4-A with 539 and Region 3 with 353.

The country’s bed occupancy rate stood at 16.3%, with 5,287 beds occupied and 27,232 vacant. 

The Health department also reported that 18,116 individuals were tested on Monday, with 314 testing laboratories submitting data. —VBL, GMA News
