Philippines posts lowest COVID-19 cases in almost two years with 134 new infections

The Philippines on Thursday registered a marked decrease in the number of daily coronavirus disease (COVID-19) tally in almost two years since the declaration of a pandemic with 134 new infections.

This brings the nationwide caseload to 3,683,865.

The country's active case count also dropped to 16,771, according to the Department of Health (DOH)’s latest data posted on its website.

The number of patients recovered climbed to 3,607,038, while the death tally rose to 60,056.

The top regions with cases in the recent two weeks were the National Capital Region (NCR) with 1,072, followed by Region 4-A with 429 and Region 3 with 301.

The country’s bed occupancy stood at 16.7%, while 5,401 were occupied, and 26,998 vacant.

The DOH reported that 21,761 individuals were tested, while 309 testing laboratories submitted data as of Wednesday. -- BAP, GMA News
