Pacquiao vows full financial support for country's judiciary

By JAMIL SANTOS,GMA News

If elected president, Senator Manny Pacquiao has vowed to provide full financial support for the country's courts, as he appealed for a swift resolution on the drug cases against detained Senator Leila de Lima.

“Ang akin lang naman din, pakiusap ko lang din naman na tulungan din naman natin 'yung mga judiciary natin, 'yung judicial system natin dahil maliit 'yung budget 'di sila masyado makagalaw at walang suporta ng ating gobyerno, limited lang ang budget nila,” Pacquiao said in a statement.

(As for me, I urge that we help our judiciary. It could not fully function due to lack of support and limited budget.)

Pacquiao expressed his disappointment that the slow resolution on De Lima's cases has caught the attention of the international community.

De Lima's drug cases made the headlines in the previous days after self-confessed drug lord Kerwin Espinosa recanted his drug allegations against the senator.

It was followed by former officer in charge of the Bureau of Corrections Rafael Ragos' retraction of his testimony against De Lima, claiming he was threatened by then-Justice secretary Vitaliano Aguirre.

Pacquiao has said both the credibility of Espinosa and Ragos may be put in bad light due to their retraction.

“Ako sa akin 'di na sila kapani-paniwala dahil pabago-bago 'yung salita eh. Paano mo paniwalaan 'yan sila?” he said.

(As for me they are no longer credible because they have been changing their statements. How can one believe them?)
