Classes, work suspended in UST on May 9-10, 2022

The University of Santo Tomas (UST) has suspended classes and office work on May 9 and 10 to allow its students and personnel to participate in the national and local elections.

"To allow the eligible members of the Thomasian community to exercise their right of suffrage this coming week, classes in all levels and office work in the University of Santo Tomas will be suspended on May 9 and May 10, 2022 (Monday and Tuesday)," UST's Office of the Secretary-General said in an advisory on Facebook on Wednesday."

The university urged its students and personnel to "dutifully and wisely exercise" their right to vote "for the sake of the common good of the Filipino nation."

"Likewise, we pray for clean, orderly, credible, and peaceful elections," it added.

Over 18,000 elective positions will be contested in the May 9, 2022, elections, national positions are for president, vice president, 12 senators and 63 party list representatives. —KBK, GMA News
