The Philippine National Police (PNP) is ready to handle possible chaos that may emerge among supporters of candidates after the election day, officer-in-charge Police Lieutenant General Vicente Danao Jr. said on Monday.

At a press conference, Danao added that the PNP prepared more on post-election mayhem since the start of their planning for the 2022 elections.

“Meron po tayong contingency plan na in case na may mangyari. Actually ito 'yung mas pinag-prepare-an natin lalong-lalo na 'yung after the casting of votes kasi nga 'yung possibility na magkagulo. Hindi po natin hahayaan na magkagulo sa area,” he said.

Danao noted that supporters of candidates may express their grievances about the elections. However, he said supporters would be arrested if they start a disorder like hampering traffic and damaging properties.

He said the PNP will use the full force of law against supporters who will instigate violence.
