Isko Moreno concedes: Give chance to a new leadership

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno on Tuesday urged his supporters to refrain from joining any “disturbance” and urged them to instead help former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as he conceded defeat in the presidential race.

The Aksyon Demokratiko standard-bearer said the country will not succeed without the unity of the public.

“We have to give chance to a new leadership. Opo.

Moreno’s remark came after the 2022 national and local elections where he garnered 1,880,059 votes based on partial results, landing fourth among the presidential candidates.

Marcos took the lead with 30,982,261 votes. Vice President Leni Robredo followed with 14,767,798 votes.

This prompted groups belonging to the youth and labor sectors to gather in front of the Commission on Elections main office in Intramuros, Manila to protest.

He said joining the “conflicts” will not do any good for the country, community, and the lives of the Filipino people.

“Life must go on. We must support. Mahirap, middle class, mayaman, iisa ang bilang ng boto,” he said.

He also congratulated Marcos and other candidates, assuring that he and his companions will not join the ‘disturbance.’

“Kay president elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr., I wish you all the best.

Sapagkat in a matter of few days, I will be… citizen Isko. Hindi na Yorme, citizen Isko na,” he said.

Moreno previously said he will retire should he lose the elections.—NB, GMA News
