Bongbong spox on Leni’s Angat Buhay as NGO: That’s okay

The camp of presumptive president Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Monday welcomed the plan of Vice President Leni Robredo to convert her Angat Buhay program into a non-government organization.

In an interview on Super Radyo dzBB, Marcos' spokesman, Atty. Vic Rodriguez, said the incoming Marcos administration needs all the help it could get to address the current economic crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Narinig namin, okay naman 'yan kung ang talagang layunin ay maipangat ang buhay ng bawat Pilipino. Sino ba naman ang hindi nagnanais na maging mabuti at mas maayos 'yung buhay ng kapwa natin Pilipino," Rodriguez said.

(We've heard of that, it's okay if the agenda is to help in improving the lives of Filipinos. Who does not want to improve the lives of every Filipino citizen?)

Rodriguez reiterated that the Marcos camp is looking for an individual, who will work under the former senator's administration, who is competent enough to serve the public, has love for the country, respects the Constitution, and who is not involved in any plans to overthrow the government.

"That is why I have been very vocal, bukod sa magaling, bukod sa competent, ang number one qualification para maging bahagi ng incoming Bongbong Marcos administration, kinakailangan may pagmamahal sa bansa, 'yung kinikilala 'yung watawat, 'yung Republika ng Pilipinas at may respeto sa Saligang Batas," he added.

(Aside from being competent and skilled, the number one qualification to be part of the Marcos administration is that the person should have love for country, recognizes the Philippine flag and the entire country, and someone who has respect for the Constitution.)

Robredo earlier announced the conversion of her office's Angat Buhay program into a full-fledged non-government organization (NGO). She said this would be launched on July 1.
