Philippines posts 191 new COVID-19 cases

The Philippines recorded 191 additional cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, data released by the Department of Health (DOH) showed.

The new cases brought the country’s active cases to 2,252, and the total caseload to 3,688,941. Recoveries stood at 3,623,234, while 60,455 deaths have been recorded so far.

The National Capital Region recorded 965 new cases in the past two weeks, followed by Calabarzon with 287, Central Luzon with 246, Western Visayas with 124, and Soccsksargen with 94.

Broken in terms of provinces and cities, Quezon City recorded 197, Manila City with 148, Cavite with 120, Makati City with 94, and Parañaque City with 66.

The country’s bed occupancy rate stands at 16.4%, with 5,109 occupied beds out of the 31,088 total.

There are 25,979 available beds: 3,061 in the intensive care units, and 28,027 non-ICU beds.

The latest data from the department also show that there were three COVID-19 doses administered on Sunday, all for the complete dosage.

This brought the Philippines’ total doses administered to 149.119 million which includes 66.330 million first doses, 68.978 million complete doses, and 13.810 million booster shots.

The DOH on Saturday reported that a Filipino who flew in from the Middle East earlier this month was found to be infected with the new Omicron BA.4 subvariant. He was asymptomatic. — BM, GMA News
