The Commission on Elections has slated the proclamation of winning party-list groups on Thursday afternoon.

Comelec chairman Saidamen Pangarungan announced the schedule after the Comelec sitting as the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC) finished the canvassing of the last certificate of canvass from Tuburan, Lanao del Sur.

Special elections were held in Tuburan on Tuesday after the Comelec declared a failure of elections in the town where 12 barangays experienced election-related violence, threats, and intimidation.

“Considering that there is no more agenda for today, we adjourn until 4 p.m. tomorrow for the proclamation of the winning party-list representatives,” Pangarungan said.

The Comelec chairman also referred the COC of Lanao del Sur to the tabulation group to make the final tabulated results for the party-list as soon as possible.

He added that the supervisor group would notify the winning party-list representatives.

Comelec commissioner George Garcia said that a party-list group which had a pending disqualification case would not receive a certificate of proclamation.

“However, if the disqualification is against a nominee of the party-list we will proclaim the party-list organization," Garcia said.

"We will issue the corresponding certificate of proclamation but we will refrain from issuing a certificate of proclamation to the party-list nominee until the issue is resolved by the commission,” he added.

Garcia said the Comelec already determined which party-list groups had a pending petition for disqualification.

“And likewise, we determined already a particular party-list for example that has no accreditation yet but has pending issue and at the same time we were able to determine likewise particular until today has pending petition for disqualification,” Garcia said.

“As far as we are concerned we proceed with the proclamation and we will be guided by that policy,” he added.

The NBOC is set to release its National Tally Sheet Report Number 8 later in the day, which will be the basis for the proclamation of the winning party-list groups targeted on Thursday. —NB, GMA News
