Flight and ground operations at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) were briefly suspended after weather bureau PAGASA issued a lightning red alert Wednesday afternoon.

The alert was raised at 3:55 p.m., an advisory from Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said.

In a separate update by the Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 4:09 p.m., it said that flight operations have already resumed after PAGASA has lowered the lightning alert from red to yellow.

In its latest bulletin, PAGASA said partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country due to localized thunderstorms.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, meanwhile, will be experienced over Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, BARMM, and Zamboanga Peninsula due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ).—Sundy Locus/Giselle Ombay/LDF, GMA News
