716 new COVID-19 cases logged; active tally rises to 5,523

The Philippines’ active coronavirus cases are now at 5,523, the Department of Health (DOH) reported Thursday, while 716 new infections were logged, the highest single-day tally since March.

In its latest bulletin, the DOH said the new COVID-19 cases bring the total nationwide caseload at 3,698,509.

Recoveries increased by 295 to a total of 3,632,491. The death toll, meanwhile, was up by 11 to 60,495.

Metro Manila recorded the highest COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks with 3,002 infections. It was followed by Region IV-A (CALABARZON) with 989 new cases, Western Visayas with 510, Central Luzon with 432, and Central Visayas with 248.
