Vice President Leni Robredo on Sunday asked permission from artists who gave her artworks throughout the campaign period to donate them to the Angat Buhay non-government organization (NGO) for an exhibit and fundraising event.

During the last episode of Robredo’s weekly radio program, the outgoing Vice President noted that her office received 987 paintings when she ran for the highest national position during Eleksyon 2022.

“Sayang na ‘yung obra ng ating mga kababayan ay ilalagay lang sa bodega. So ako, humihingi ako ng parang permission sa mga nagbigay na ido-donate ko po ang lahat ng paintings for Angat Buhay para maraming makinabang,” she said.

(It’s a pity if the artworks of our countrymen will only be put in the warehouse. So, I am asking permission from the artists if I could donate all the paintings for Angat Buhay so that many will benefit from them.)

“Lahat ng mga nagbigay, parang ito ‘yung contribution niyo to Angat Buhay… Ang gusto natin, i-share sa iba tapos ito pa ‘yung magiging seed fund para sa ating mga activities,” she added.

(To those who gave me artworks, this can be your contribution to Angat Buhay… We want to share them with others and then this will be the seed fund for our activities.)

Robredo said that the Angat Buhay NGO will be launched in hybrid on July 1 and 2, after she steps down from office on June 30. There will also be an exhibit of the artworks given to her by her supporters.

She assured that the artworks, when donated, will be properly attributed to the artists and the funds that will be collected will be utilized to help those in need.

An online registration will also be posted on her official Facebook page for those who wish to see the exhibit.

Robredo previously called on her supporters to join the Angat Buhay NGO which she poised to become the “biggest volunteer network in Philippine history.”

Earlier, Robredo announced that volunteers from her hometown in Naga City are eyeing to put up a “Pink Museum” to memorialize her election campaign which was primarily driven by volunteerism. —KG, GMA News
