China's VP to represent Xi at Marcos' inauguration

Chinese President Xi Jinping is sending his vice president, Wang Qishan, to the inauguration of President-elect Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. in Manila on Thursday, Beijing's embassy said Tuesday.

Wang is one of the several senior dignitaries who will attend the event, along with Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff, who will lead the United States presidential delegation

, and Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi.

Marcos will be sworn in as the country's 17th president at the National Museum of the Philippines at 12 noon on June 30.

Supreme Court Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo will administer Marcos’ oath of office. —VBL, GMA News
