Marcos appoints Lala Sotto as MTRCB chief

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has appointed former Quezon City councilor Diorella Maria "Lala" Sotto-Antonio as chairperson of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).

This was confirmed by Sotto-Antonio's father, former Senate President Vicente Sotto III, on Thursday.

Sotto expressed gratitude to Marcos for the latter's trust and confidence in his daughter.

"I believe she will do well given her background. Besides, she has two excellent women former chairpersons to emulate, Senator Grace Poe and Congresswoman Rachel Arenas," Sotto said.

Sotto-Antonio was a Quezon City councilor for several terms and also served as chief of staff to her father during his stint at the Commission on Appointments from 2010 to 2012. —VBL, GMA News
