Divorce, marital infidelity, Magna Carta of Seafarers top Raffy Tulfo's pet bills

Bills seeking to legalize divorce, penalize marital infidelity, and protect seafarers are among the top 10 priority measures filed by neophyte Senator Raffy Tulfo.

The broadcaster-turned-politician on Thursday revealed the list of his pet bills in the 19th Congress. First on his list is the proposed Wage Theft Law which seeks to impose penalties against employers who failed to pay the salaries and benefits of their workers.

The first-time senator, who is set to chair the Senate committees on energy and the new committee on migrant workers, also introduced the bill extending the prescriptive period of labor money claims and the proposed Poor Job Applicants Discount Act.

Aside from Divorce and the Marital Infidelity bills, Tulfo also filed the Anti-Domestic Violence Act of 2022 which seeks to protect individuals, regardless of their gender, from maltreatment and abuse.

Also included in his top 10 bills in the 19th Congress are the proposed Judicial Modernization Act of 2022, Act Redefining Illegal Recruitment Committed by a Syndicate, and the Act Removing the Public Offering Requirement of Generation Companies.—LDF, GMA News
