Philippines logs 1,936 new COVID-19 cases, active tally hits 11,370

The Philippines on Thursday logged 1,936 new COVID-19 cases pushing the country's active infections to 11,370.

This is the highest number of new cases in a day after 2,232 were reported on February 18.

The active cases also increased from 10,323 on Wednesday.

The new cases bring the nationwide tally to 3,713,131, based on the latest figures posted by the Department of Health (DOH).

The National Capital Region (NCR) recorded 6,503 new cases in the recent two weeks, followed by Calabarzon with 2,688, Western Visayas with 1,184, Central Luzon with 1,029, and Central Visayas with 611.

More patients recovered from COVID-19 as the recovery tally increased to 3,641,136.

The DOH reported three deaths increasing the death tally to 60,625.

The Health department said a total of 5,868 beds were occupied, while 23,334 were vacant as the bed occupancy in the country slightly increased to 20.1% as of Tuesday, July 5.

It added that at least 20,052 individuals were tested, while 319 testing labs submitted data as of July 6. —NB, GMA News
