DOH: Active COVID-19 cases hit 13k mark

The Philippines' active COVID-19 cases crossed the 13,000-mark on Saturday, data from the Department of Health (DOH) showed. 

In its latest report, the DOH said active cases climbed to 13,021, while 1,825 new infections were recorded.

This was an increase from the 12,528 active cases and 1,712 COVID-19 infections reported on Friday

The new cases brought the nationwide tally to 3,716,522.

The DOH said the National Capital Region logged 7,228 new cases in the last two weeks, followed by Calabarzon with 3,127, Western Visayas with 1,349, Central Luzon with 1,228, and Central Visayas with 645.

More patients have recovered from the illness as the number of recoveries increased to 3,642,862, while the country’s death toll remained at 60,639.

The bed occupancy rate in the country stood at 20.5%, with 5,948 beds occupied and 23,098 beds vacant as of July 7.

A total of 19,944 individuals were tested for COVID-19 on July 8, while 323 testing laboratories submitted data. —VBL, GMA News
