LGU combined DSWD's relief goods with Angat Buhay's, says Tulfo

Social Welfare Secretary Erwin Tulfo on Monday said it was the local government unit (LGU) that combined the relief goods from his department with those from former Vice President Leni Robredo's non-government organization Angat Buhay in a warehouse in Ifugao.

Tulfo made the statement after Angat Buhay posted photos online showing its assistance to flood victims in Banaue, including a picture that showed DSWD's boxes of relief items mixed in with those from them.

"Base sa report ng akingregional director doon, mukhang pinagsama nila yung sa DSWD at saka yung sa Angat Buhay at nakunan ng litrato yung pagsasama po ng goods ng Angat Buhay at DSWD," he said in a radio interview.

(Based on a report of my regional director, it looks like the LGU combined the goods from Angat Buhay and DSWD and a photo of it was taken.)

Tulfo said the law prohibits the DSWD from coursing its relief goods through NGOs. He said relief items should be distributed directly to the concerned LGUs.

Meanwhile, Tulfo advised those who would like to help the flood victims in Banaue to donate clothes and hygiene kits through the agency or NGOs. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
