VP Sara: Rightsizing gov't won't be easy

Citing her experience in the local government, Vice President Sara Duterte said Thursday rightsizing or trimming the bureaucracy will not be easy to do.

"I don't see it happening in the short term. Mahirap mag-rightsize ng (It is hard to rightsize the) government," Duterte, former Davao City mayor, told reporters after a visit in San Beda College in Manila.

"Nahirapan nga kami sa LGU namin (We had a hard time implementing it in our city), all the more in the national government," she added.

The Vice President made the remarks in light of the plan of the Department of Budget and Management to trim the bureaucracy.

Duterte, however, clarified that rightsizing the government is a good move.

"I think this is a step in good direction, so that the President can review the performance of agencies," she said.—AOL, GMA News
