Comelec: New registered voters now at 1.3 million


The number of new voter registrants has reached 1,307,593 as of July 15, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said on Sunday.

Based on the nationwide consolidated report provided by acting Comelec Spokesperson Rex Laudiangco, 863,078 of these new voters were aged 15 to 17; 435,266 were aged 18 to 30; while 72,249 were aged 31 and above.

The poll body said it has processed a total of 1,805,272 applications as of Friday, the 11th day of the continuing voter registration.

This included reactivation, correction of entries, transfer of voter registration, and transfer from overseas voting to local voting.

The Comelec resumed voter registration on July 4, ahead of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Elections which are set on December 5, 2022.

The continuing voter registration will run until July 23, 2022. — DVM, GMA News
