Admission of non-COVID-19 cases increasing in hospitals — PHAPI exec

By JOVILAND RITA,GMA News

The number of admissions of non-COVID patients is increasing in hospitals, Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines Inc. (PHAPI) president Dr. Jose de Grano said Tuesday.

“Medyo dumami din po ang non-COVID cases. At napansin po namin right now itong pagdagsa din ng mga dengue patients,” De Grano said at the Laging Handa public briefing.

(Non-COVID cases are increasing. And we noticed right now that there is an influx of dengue patients.)

Most of the dengue cases were reported in Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and Zamboanga, as well as in the Visayas, according to De Grano.

“Siguro kung magkakaroon man ng kaunting pagka-ano doon sa admission po sa emergency room ay dahil dumadami po itong non-COVID cases,” De Grano said.

“Yun pong ibang hospitals nga ang nagiging problem, kapag nagkukulang yung ating nurses and health workers (Some hospitals face problem when they are lacking nurses and healthcare workers),” he added.

According to De Grano, the number COVID-19 patients in hospitals is still manageable despite the increasing number of new infections.

On Tuesday, the Department of Health reported a total of 14,640 new COVID-19 cases from July 11 to July 17, which is around 44% higher than the infections recorded in the previous week. — RSJ, GMA News
