Militant group Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN) on Sunday gave a sneak peek of the effigy they were making for President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.'s first State of the Nation Address.

Titled “Mad in Malacañang”, the effigy is twelve meters high, with an image of Marcos seated on a chair with the seal of the Republic of the Philippines with the words “Sagisag ng Alamano ng Pilipinas.”

Likewise, the banner BAYAN would use in their march on Commonwealth Avenue during Marcos' SONA has been printed.

Meanwhile, Sama-samang Artista para sa Kilusang Agraryo or SAKA made a mask dubbed “Maskara ng Golden Kuhol” that they will use for the protest action.

The local government of Quezon City allowed Bayan and its allied organizations to hold a protest on Commonwealth Avenue.

The LGU eventually decided to allow the protest, after Quezon City's Department of Public Order and Safety denied BAYAN's rally permit application, when Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte arranged a dialogue between city officials, police officers, and leaders of the progressive groups.

“Based on these dialogues, the local government has decided to allow progressive groups to conduct their march and assembly along Commonwealth Avenue (eastbound) up to the corner of Tandang Sora Avenue on Monday, July 25, while the PBBM and allied groups will be allowed to conduct their program along Interim Batasan Pambansa (IBP) Road near Sinagtala Street, Barangay Batasan Hills,” the QC local government said in a statement. — DVM, GMA News
