CAAP: Boarding briefly halted at Tuguegarao Airport due to quake

A flight departing the Tuguegarao Airport in Cagayan province was briefly halted due to the magnitude 7 earthquake that jolted Abra on Wednesday morning.

In a status report as of 8:43 a.m., the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said passengers of Cebu Pacific flight 5J505 “were advised/assisted/guarded by PNP Aviation Security and CAAP personnel to go out of PTB (passenger terminal building) and stay at the ramp/apron while quake was going on.”

“Boarding was suspended and runway assessment was conducted right away by CAAP ANS (Air Navigation Service), ARFF (Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting)  and CSIS (CAAP Security and Intelligence Service) personnel,” CAAP said.

The aviation authority said no damage was reported.

“The CebuPac 5J505 departed at 9:25 a.m.,” CAAP said.

According to PHIVOLCS, the magnitude 7 quake occurred at 8:43 a.m. and was located at 17.63°N, 120.74°E - 002 km N 20° east of Lagangilang in Abra. It had a depth of 025 kilometers.

The quake, which was tectonic in origin, was felt at Intensity IV in Quezon City, PHIVOLCS said.

Damage and aftershocks are expected due to the earthquake,  PHIVOLCS also said.—AOL, GMA News
