DepEd: 14 million students have enrolled for SY 2022–2023 so far

More than 14 million students have enrolled for School Year (SY) 2022–2023 so far, the Department of Education (DepEd) reported on Wednesday.

Based on the latest data from the Learner Information System, 14,284,778 students enrolled for the incoming school year in the period from July 25 to 7 a.m. of August 3, 2022.

The highest number of enrollees was recorded in Region IV (CALABARZON) with 2,116,809. It was followed by Metro Manila with 1,734,621 and Region III (Central Luzon) with 1,422,838.

Of the total 14 million enrollees, 4,600,822 were junior high school students, 2,114,997 were senior high school students, 6,622,348 were elementary students while 946,611 were in kindergarten.

DepEd reminded the public that the last day for enrollment is August 22, 2022, pursuant to DepEd Order Number 35, which sets the enrollment timeline.

Students may enroll in-person, remotely, or through dropbox forms. Alternative Learning System (ALS) learners are also allowed to enroll physically or online.

The new school year will start on August 22, 2022, and will end on July 7, 2023.

Blended learning schedules and full-distance learning will be allowed until October 31, but starting November 2, the DepEd said all public and private schools in the country should have transitioned to five days of in-person classes. — BM, GMA News
