DOH logs 3,047 new COVID-19 cases, active tally drops to 31,992

The Philippines on Wednesday registered 3,047 new COVID-19 infections, increasing the nationwide tally to 3,785,869.

Based on the Department of Health (DOH)’s latest figures, the active case tally also further dropped to 31,992 from 32,099 on Tuesday. This was the second straight day of declines in the number of active cases.

The DOH said top regions with cases in the recent two weeks were the National Capital Region (NCR) with 14,704 cases, followed by Calabarzon with 9,485, Central Luzon with 4,478, Western Visayas with 2,660, and Central Visayas with 1,995.

The country’s recovery tally also increased to 3,693,115 with 3,141 more patients defeated the viral disease.

Meanwhile, 13 new deaths were recorded as the country’s death toll rose to 60,762.

The country’s bed occupancy stood at 29% with at least 8,334 beds occupied, while 20,438 were still vacant as of Monday, August 1.

At least 24,932 individuals were tested, while 328 testing labs submitted data as of August 2, the DOH said. — Richa Noriega/BM, GMA News
